Finance Portal
The Finance Portal (finance.openinsure.dev) provides real-time visibility into the double-entry ledger, accounts receivable, and regulatory financial reporting.
Signing In
Section titled “Signing In”- Go to finance.openinsure.dev 2. Sign in with your Microsoft
account (role:
finance_analyst) 3. You land on the Finance Dashboard
Dashboard
Section titled “Dashboard”The dashboard displays:
- Collected premium — current period vs. prior period
- Outstanding AR — total receivables aged by bucket (current / 30 / 60 / 90+ days)
- Commission payable — amounts owed to producers this period
- Trust account balance — premium held in fiduciary trust
- Recent ledger entries — last 20 double-entry postings
TigerBeetle Ledger
Section titled “TigerBeetle Ledger”All financial transactions flow through TigerBeetle, a purpose-built financial accounting database. The ledger view shows every credit and debit with:
- Account code (chart of accounts)
- Debit / credit amount
- Timestamp (microsecond precision)
- Related entity (policy ID, claim ID, invoice ID)
- Transfer ID (immutable, append-only)
Searching the ledger
Section titled “Searching the ledger”Filter by:
- Account code range
- Date range
- Entity type (policy / claim / invoice / commission)
- Entity ID
Exporting
Section titled “Exporting”Click Export to download ledger entries as CSV. For large date ranges, exports are queued and emailed when ready.
AR Aging
Section titled “AR Aging”The AR Aging report shows outstanding premium receivables grouped by age:

Click any row to drill into the specific invoices and payment history.
Non-Pay Queue
Section titled “Non-Pay Queue”The Non-Pay Queue tab shows policies where payment has lapsed and a Notice of Cancellation (NOC) may be required. Actions available:
- Send NOC — initiates the cancellation notice workflow
- Mark Paid — records a payment received outside the portal
- Apply Extension — grants a grace period extension
Statutory Reports
Section titled “Statutory Reports”Statutory financial reports required by state regulators:

Click Generate to produce a report. Reports are cached for 24 hours; click Refresh to force a new run.
Reconciliation
Section titled “Reconciliation”The Reconciliation tab helps you match bank deposits to ledger entries:
- Upload your bank statement (CSV or OFX) 2. The system auto-matches transactions by amount and date 3. Review unmatched items — manually match or create adjustment entries 4. Mark the reconciliation period as complete
Completed reconciliation periods are locked and cannot be re-opened without supervisor override.
Report Builder
Section titled “Report Builder”Build ad-hoc financial reports without writing SQL:
- Click Report Builder 2. Select dimensions: line of business, state, carrier, program, producer 3. Select measures: written premium, earned premium, loss ratio, commission rate 4. Set the date range and grouping (monthly / quarterly / annual) 5. Click Run — results appear inline 6. Click Save to add the report to your dashboard 7. Click Export for CSV or PDF
Commission Statements
Section titled “Commission Statements”Generate commission statements for producers:
- Click Commissions 2. Select the statement period 3. Filter by producer or agency 4. Click Generate Statement — a PDF is created and can be emailed directly to the producer
Notifications
Section titled “Notifications”Finance analysts receive notifications for:
- Large reserve changes on claims (above threshold)
- NOC queue items aging past 60 days
- Statutory report generation failures
- Reconciliation discrepancies above $500
Configure preferences in Profile → Notifications.
