Finance Portal

The Finance Portal (finance.openinsure.dev) provides real-time visibility into the double-entry ledger, accounts receivable, and regulatory financial reporting.

  1. Go to finance.openinsure.dev 2. Sign in with your Microsoft account (role: finance_analyst) 3. You land on the Finance Dashboard

The dashboard displays:

  • Collected premium — current period vs. prior period
  • Outstanding AR — total receivables aged by bucket (current / 30 / 60 / 90+ days)
  • Commission payable — amounts owed to producers this period
  • Trust account balance — premium held in fiduciary trust
  • Recent ledger entries — last 20 double-entry postings

All financial transactions flow through TigerBeetle, a purpose-built financial accounting database. The ledger view shows every credit and debit with:

  • Account code (chart of accounts)
  • Debit / credit amount
  • Timestamp (microsecond precision)
  • Related entity (policy ID, claim ID, invoice ID)
  • Transfer ID (immutable, append-only)

Filter by:

  • Account code range
  • Date range
  • Entity type (policy / claim / invoice / commission)
  • Entity ID

Click Export to download ledger entries as CSV. For large date ranges, exports are queued and emailed when ready.

The AR Aging report shows outstanding premium receivables grouped by age:

BucketDays past due
Current0–30 days
30+31–60 days
60+61–90 days
90+Over 90 days

Click any row to drill into the specific invoices and payment history.

The Non-Pay Queue tab shows policies where payment has lapsed and a Notice of Cancellation (NOC) may be required. Actions available:

  • Send NOC — initiates the cancellation notice workflow
  • Mark Paid — records a payment received outside the portal
  • Apply Extension — grants a grace period extension

Statutory financial reports required by state regulators:

The Reconciliation tab helps you match bank deposits to ledger entries:

  1. Upload your bank statement (CSV or OFX) 2. The system auto-matches transactions by amount and date 3. Review unmatched items — manually match or create adjustment entries 4. Mark the reconciliation period as complete

Completed reconciliation periods are locked and cannot be re-opened without supervisor override.

Build ad-hoc financial reports without writing SQL:

Set the date range and grouping (monthly / quarterly / annual) 5. Click Run — results appear inline 6. Click Save to add the report to your dashboard 7. Click Export for CSV or PDF

Generate commission statements for producers:
